Premium Audio Technologies for Superb Surround Sound
Fully compatible with current HD audio formats, the Denon AVR-1312 5.1-Channel A/V Receiver provides powerful, theater-quality surround sound. It ensures maximum audio performance with multiple technologies:

  • Equal Power Amp Design: Each of the AVR-1312's five 75-watt* channels is powered by its own discrete circuit. This allows the receiver to reproduce original sound more faithfully than conventional models, which use integrated circuits.
  • High-Definition Audio Support: The AVR-1312 features support for Blu-ray high-resolution audio formats, including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. These formats play back sound with exceptional fidelity, providing a more realistic listening experience.
Full HD Support
With four HDMI inputs, the AVR-1312 allows you to route multiple high-definition devices--like game consoles and Blu-ray players--to your TV. It also allows you to connect all of your devices to your TV with a single HDMI cable, reducing cable clutter.

Vivid 3D Visuals with HDMI v1.4a
The AVR-1312 comes equipped with HDMI v1.4a, allowing you to make the most of several premium video features:

  • 3D Pass-Through: With the advent of 3D media, it is important to own a receiver that recognizes 3D video signals. The AVR-1312 is able to pass through 3D signals from your Blu-ray player, ensuring that the 3D effect doesn't get lost in translation. It also recognizes signals from 3D television broadcasts.
  • Deep Color and x.v.Color Support: The AVR-1312 also supports Deep Color and x.v.Color content, which can display a larger color range than standard-definition schemes. The result is a more lifelike, vibrant picture.
Stereo Mini Jack and iPod Connectivity
With the front-side stereo mini jack, the AVR-1312 supports audio playback from any portable audio player. This receiver can also be used with the Denon Networked Control Dock (sold separately) for network streaming or docking your iPod/iPhone. A compressed audio restorer guarantees that standard MP3 playback is crisp and clear.

GUI Overlay and Remote Control for Simple Operation
With its intuitive button layout, the AVR-1312 is designed for ease of use. The front panel is smartly organized, featuring clearly labeled buttons and onboard controls for volume and source. In addition, its on-screen display provides quick information about your system's settings.

The AVR-1312's simple remote control is easy to use, giving you more flexibility in controlling your home theater.

5Great Receiver
By Richard Hayn
This receiver rocks. It is probably entry level and basic but it allowed me to hookup my AT&T UVerse, Apple TV, and Blu-Ray Player to hit through HDMI with great results. The monitor out is nice since it gives you an on screen menu to tweak the receiver. Great purchase.

5Simple Pleasure
By John Barker
This is my first experience with a Denon product, and I must say that I am overall very happy with this purchases. The AVR-1312 is Denon's first entry level offering, featuring their great quality design with affordable pricing.

While this is very basic 5.1 surround receiver, it has quite a lot to offer the budget audio enthusiast; namely, clean consistent sound across the spectrum. There are no holes in the listening experience but very clean highs, perfect mid range and tight, solid bass.

While I was reviewing other units, I kept on noticing problems with different aspects concerning the HMDI hook ups and other anomalous things. My final two choices I had narrowed down in my price range were the Denon and the Sony STRDH520 7.1 Channel 3D AV Receiver (Black). While the Sony was by far more feature rich, there were enough complaints that kept me leaning towards the Denon, which boasted 91/2 stars and a long history of excellence. Sony seems to have quality issues in their manufacturing, because many different products from them often have a fair amount of problem-ed units.

The only drawback for me is that I am pushing 8ohm speakers and the amp is designed for driving 6ohm speakers more efficiently. I really have to crank it to get any level of sound out of it passed a whisper, but in the end this isn't much of a problem. The discrete separate amplification circuits rated at .08% THD, you can crank this guy up with minimal distortion until the very end of the dial. I can get an acceptable volume without any discernible distortion for music and movie viewing. Getting to the higher volumes that I like at times, it still out performs other audio systems I have owned before. But, would still like a little more crank for those, "I really want to feel this" times.

At the end of the day, this is a small thing compared to the build and quality that comes from owning Denon equipment. Need a basic 5.1 receiver that won't brake the bank but deliver great sound and be reliable years down the road; buy the Denon.

5Great value, great sound
By M. Reed
This is a terrific receiver for an entry-level home theater setup. The sound quality is excellent, they setup is easy and the interface is fairly intuitive. For around $250, it's hard to beat.

One thing to note, though, is that this model doesn't have a USB port for your iPad. I think that only comes on the higher end models.
